Replace Device

/api/v1/device-registry/devices/:device_id/replace

Swap a failed unit for a replacement, in §7's normative order.

The old unit is closed, retired and revoked before the replacement is bound and activated, so the two are never both live. Each keeps its own inventory row — they are different physical assets — and the audit trail links them in both directions.
